What Causes Hayfever?
Hayfever, also known as allergic rhinitis, is caused by allergens that irritate your nasal passages. Common allergens include:
- Grass, Weeds, and Tree Pollens:These are the most common triggers, especially in spring and summer.
- Dust Mites and Dust: Often found in homes, these can trigger symptoms year-round.
- Animal Fur or Skin Flakes:Pets can be a source of allergens.
- Moulds and Fungal Spores: These can grow in damp environments.
- Air Pollutants: Pollution can exacerbate allergy symptoms.
- Latex:Some individuals are allergic to latex, which can cause symptoms similar to hayfever.
You may experience hayfever symptoms at certain times of the year, depending on your specific triggers. Genetics can also play a role, meaning you might share similar triggers with your family members.
